Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) winless run in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) continued after they suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, April 17, with the hosts now registering their third consecutive win this season.

Winning the toss and batting first, KKR put 180 on the board with Cameron Green finally delivering with the bat. Following a slow start to his innings, the Australian international quickly went through the gears to score 79 off 55 balls. He was partnered well by Rovman Powell, who continued his excellent form this season by hitting 27 at a time when the 2024 champions had lost three early wickets. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets and conceding just 29 runs.

GT, meanwhile, chased down the total with ease thanks to their captain, Shubman Gill. India’s Test and ODI captain scored an elegant 86 from just 50 balls to take his side within touching distance of a victory, but was dismissed thanks to Green’s brilliant diving catch in the deep. The game did go to the final over, but the 2022 champions were never in danger of losing.

As is the case with most IPL matches, GT vs KKR also saw a bunch of team and personal milestones being achieved on the night. However, not all landmarks are positive in nature. Unfortunately for KKR, they ended up on the wrong side of an unwanted record regarding the number of wickets that they have lost in the first six overs.

Here are the most important stats and milestones from Match 25:

  • Jos Buttler: Completed 300 catches in T20 cricket
  • Cameron Green: Registered his first half-century for KKR and his second-highest score in IPL (79)
  • Rovman Powell: Reached 400 sixes in T20 cricket
  • Sai Sudharsan: Reached 200 fours in IPL
  • KKR: Have lost 12 wickets in powerplay this season, the most by a team
  • 7: KKR’s second-longest losing streak in their IPL history
