The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured their second win in as many games with a routine eight-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 48 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The win takes the five-time champions up to sixth in the standings on 10 points and just two behind the playoff spots.

DC won the toss and chose to bat first, where they struggled to 155 from their quota of 20 overs. Sameer Rizvi was the star with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 40 off 24 balls towards the end on a slowish surface. Noor Ahmad, meanwhile, was the pick of the bowlers for CSK, taking two wickets whilst conceding just 22 runs from three overs.

The Super Kings, in reply, chased down the total with more than two overs to spare, thanks to their talismanic opener Sanju Samson. The new signing, who already has two centuries to his name this season, scored 87 not out to see his side home. He was partnered brilliantly by Kartik Sharma, who also remained unbeaten and hit 41 off 31 balls.

As is the case with all IPL games this season, DC vs CSK also saw both teams and players create records and surpass important milestones. However, not all landmarks are positive in nature, with the Capitals registering an unwanted record in this season’s competition.

Here are the most important stats and milestones from Match 48:

  • Pathum Nissanka: Reached 500 fours in his T20 career
  • Sameer Rizvi: Played his 50th T20 match
  • Delhi Capitals: Have lost the most wickets in the powerplay in IPL 2026 (21)
  • Sanju Samson: Fourth-most 50-plus scores by a wicketkeeper in IPL (22)
  • Sanju Samson: Third-highest aggregate for a player vs an opponent in an IPL edition (202 vs DC)
  • Sanju Samson and Kartik Sharma: Second-highest partnership for CSK vs DC (114)
  • Chennai Super Kings: Second-biggest win for CSK vs DC in IPL (By Balls Remaining) (15)
