Chernnai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians

The Chennai Super Kings host the Mumbai Indians in Match 44 of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Super Kings come into this clash after a six-day break following the loss to the Gujarat Titans. Being put into bat, they were able to manage just 158 runs in their 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls in an innings dented early in the powerplay by Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada. They were unable to defend the total as the Titans made light work of the chase, getting to the target with 20 balls to spare.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians come into this clash on the back of a loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, failing to defend a mammoth 244 at the Wankhede Stadium. Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten 123 helped the Mumbai Indians reach 243, which was chased down with relative ease courtesy a 30-ball 76 at the top from Travis Head and an unbeaten 65 from Heinrich Klaasen.

The two teams met at the Wankhede Stadium on April 23, where the Super Kings completed a 103-rout of their rivals. Being put into bat, the Super Kings rode on Sanju Samson’s unbeaten century to post a total of 207/6 in their 20 overs. They broke the back of the Mumbai Indians’ innings early with three wickets in the powerplay, eventually bowling them out for 104. Akeal Hosein finished the game with four wickets, which included two in the first six overs.

Raghu Sharma: The Punjab leg-spinner has yet to feature this season.

Krish Bhagat: The young all-rounder from Punjab made his debut against the Gujarat Titans and also played against the Super Kings, but went wicketless in both games.

Raj Bawa: The all-rounder has yet to feature this season.

Expert Opinions and Strategies:

Home Advantage: The Chennai Super Kings have the home advantage, but have lost two of the four games played at the Chepauk.

Recent Form: The Super Kings have won four of the last five clashes between these two teams. They were also victorious in the first clash between the two.

Balanced Side: Both teams have holes, but the Super Kings come into this clash with the more settled unit.

Final Prediction: The Chennai Super Kings enter this clash as favourites on the back of past results and the home advantage.
