The right-hander sustained the setback during CSK’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 18. Reports suggest he will be sidelined for six to twelve weeks, leaving a noticeable gap in CSK’s top order.
Mhatre had been one of the positives for CSK this season, scoring 201 runs in six matches at an impressive strike rate of 177.87. With his absence, CSK are expected to consider backup options like Urvil Patel, while also exploring potential replacements who can maintain the balance of the side.

Though he lacks IPL exposure, his current form and attacking mindset could make him a valuable addition.
