It is being understood that Pat Cummins and Travis Head might come back to India to rejoin Sunrisers Hyderabad for the remainder of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Australian duo were amongst the several players who had departed from India once the IPL was deemed to be temporarily suspended due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.Ā
With both players being named in the 15-member squad of Australia for their upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa, there is a lot of speculation in relation to the two returning for the IPL or not. It is understood that Cummins and Head have conveyed to SRH on their decision of flying back.
“Pat has a responsibility as captain of the franchise and is looking at returning,” Cummins’ manager, Neil Maxwell, told News Corp on Tuesday, May 13, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
That being said, nothing formal has come out in relation to SRH’s overseas players other than the Australians. Heinrich Klaasen, Wiaan Mulder, Kamindu Mendis, and Eshan Malinga’s availabily is yet to be officially confirmed. Mulder has been named in the Proteas’ setup for their clash against the Aussies.Ā Ā
As far as SRH’s IPL 2025 is concerned, they have managed to secure just three wins in 11 games so far. Having already been knocked out from the race to the playoffs, their concluding set of games are all away; LSG in Lucknow on May 19, RCB in Bengaluru on May 23, and KKR in Delhi on May 25.
