Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru cricketer, has been having a dream run in the Indian Premier League 2025 so far with a staggering 505 runs from 11 innings at an average of 63.12. In fact, he has been consistently performing for the franchise since 2008 and is also the highest run-getter in the league with over 8,500 runs against his name.
Having spent so many years playing in the IPL, it is natural that there is a lot of travel that goes on for Kohli and all other players and officials involved, and staying away from home is also natural. During a recent interaction alongside presenter Mayanti Langer, the 36-year-old has opened up on what he carries with him all the time and often accompanies to his hotel rooms. He said that he likes eating fox nuts, and they keep him grounded when he is in his hotel rooms.
“Is there something in your room, in your hotel room that can remind you of your safe space? Is there something you carry, something materialistic that just kind of grounds you, that changed over the years or something that you always carried with you for like the past two decades or something?” Mayanti asked via RCB Podcast on the sidelines of IPL 2025.
“There’s no evolved answer to this. My packet of makhanas (fox nuts) is what keeps me grounded. Just sitting and eating makhanas in my room is my happy space,” Virat replied.
Virat tops Orange Cap race in IPL 2025
Kohli’s top-form has helped him be one of the strongest contenders for the Orange Cap in the ongoing 2025 season of the marquee T20 competition. He is currently No. 1 in the list of highest run-getters of the season, with seven half-centuries. Virat is closely followed by Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan, who has 504 runs from just 10 innings.
RCB are also topping the IPL 2025 Points Table charts with 16 points in 11 games with eight wins and just three losses. A win in their next game against Lucknow Super Giants on May 09 will confirm their qualification for the Playoffs as well.
