Amidst a poor performance in the IPL 2025, Mohammed Shami, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, has received a death threat through email. As Shami’s brother, Haseeb Ahmed, opened his email due to the star pacer being busy in his campaign in the IPL 2025, he got to know about the threat. The SRH pacer was demanded INR 1 crore and threatened with death otherwise.
As per The Times of India’s report, Ahmed filed an FIR against the threat at the Amroha police station. The identity of the email user was reported as Rajput Sindhar. Along with him, the name of Prabhakar was mentioned in the communication. Amroha’s SP Amit Kumar Anand was informed of the threat and requested to take serious action with immediate effect.
Ahmed has submitted the email from Sindhar as proof of the threat. The case has been sent to the crime branch under the Cyber Cell Investigation Department. Ahmed claimed that all the required sections are imposed on the case. Police have assured Shami’s brother that investigate the matter soon to resolve the case.
Shami’s poor performance in the IPL 2025
The UP-born pacer has had a poor performance in the IPL 2025 so far. The right-arm pacer’s failure has been one of the key reasons behind SRH’s failure in the 18th edition of the league. In 9 innings, the right-arm pacer has just 6 wickets at a poor average of 56.17, at a strike rate of 30.00, and an economy rate of 11.23.
It has been the Bengal cricketer’s worst season in the history of the IPL. In the match against Punjab Kings, the right-arm pacer conceded 75 runs in his 4 overs, the second-most expensive spell in the history of the league. It is also the most expensive spell by an Indian bowler as of date.
After being one of the best bowlers with the new ball from 2019 to 2023, Shami’s downfall has been well-documented. Injuries and inability to find rhythm have meant Shami’s failures in the IPL 2025. His best spell in the season was his 2/28 against GT.
