The 58th match of IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was called off due to technical issues because of the shutdown of the stadiumās floodlights. The match had an initial delay due to rain which pushed the start of the game by an hour from the scheduled time of 7:30 pm IST.
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first.Ā Their openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh got PBKS off to a flying start. The young left-hander set the tone by hitting a boundary off the very first ball bowled by Mitchell Starc. In the third over, the wicketkeeper-batter smashed the Australian pacer for three boundaries. The duo brought up the teamās fifty in the fourth over. In the end of the powerplay PBKS had scored 69 runs without a wicket loss.
The 23-year-old brought up his half-century in just 25 balls. He was soon followed by the right-handed batter, who recorded his fourth successive fifty in 28 balls. The opening partnership was 122 runs, before DC left-arm pacer T. Natarajan broke the stand by dismissing Arya for an impressive 70 off 41 deliveries, which included five fours and six sixes.
PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer walked to the crease and right away, one of the floodlight towers failed and caused a delay. After a few moments, another tower went off, which made it impossible to resume the game. Later, the match was eventually called off due to the technical failure. There is a speculation that the match could be rescheduled, but official confirmation is awaited.
