The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have posted a huge total of 230 on the board, putting the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowlers under pressure. It was a massive runfest at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, where all the CSK batters smashed the bowlers all around the park.
All the CSK batters contributed in the first innings with the openers giving a fast start and the middle order applying the finishing touches in the end. The top performers of the match were Kiwi opener Devon Conway (52 off 35 balls) and South Africa young and upcoming star Dewald Brevis (57 off 23). Their half centuries made sure that the team got to a challenging total in the end.
Apart from Brevis and Conway, other notable cameos came from Ayush Mhatre (34 off 17 deliveries), Urvil Patel (37 off 19 deliveries), and Ravindra Jadeja (21* off 18 deliveries). This was a wonderful display by the CSK batters, whose season is ending after this ongoing match. Nevertheless, they have given themselves a great chance of ending the season with a win and ending the tournament on a high.
This is now the highest total for CSK in this edition. This will also put a lot of pressure on the Gujarat Titans bowlers and batters, who will have a tough task in trying to chase down the huge total. All the GT bowlers, apart from Prasidh Krishna, went for over 10 runs an over in the first innings. This game might also affect their chances of finishing among the top two teams on the points table.
