The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking active measures to ensure the security of the players, support staff, and broadcast crew who were involved in the abandoned IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday, May 08.

Reportedly, the high-voltage encounter was abandoned mid-way into the first innings owing to the cross-border tensions. The spectators were advised to exit the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala as soon as possible. Now, the Indian cricket board is planning to have a special train to get the players, support staff, and broadcast crew out of Dharamshala.

“We are organising a special train from close to Dharamshala to bring everybody home safely. As of now, the match has been called off and the stadium has been evacuated. We will take a call on the tournament’s future depending on the situation tomorrow. As of now, players’ safety is utmost important. The match couldn’t have continued tonight because of the situation. It wasn’t safe,” BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by Times of India.

According to reports, the players of both sides have made it back to their hotels. They will now be waiting for further orders from the BCCI. It is important to note that the airport in Dharamshala is closed and there is still no clarity regarding when the players will be returning from the hills.Ā

The BCCI had already shifted Punjab’s next game in Dharamshala to Ahmedabad. This encounter is set to take place against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, May 11. However, latest reports suggest that the future of the 18th edition of the IPL could be in jeopardy.

Coming to the game, Punjab Kings were in a commanding position at 122/1 in 10.1 overs after Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh scored swashbuckling half-centuries. The former departed after amassing 70 off 34 balls with the help of five fours and six sixes. Shreyas Iyer had joined Prabhsimran in the middle, who was batting on 50 off just 28 deliveries.Ā
