Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently suspended due to escalating tension between India and Pakistan for one week and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is exploring international options to resume the tournament. However, there are some reports that three countries can beconsidered as the strong contenders to host the remainder ofthe tournament if not India.
Here are the three possible countries that can host the remainder of the IPL 2025 if not India
United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The UAE has already successfully hosted the IPL in 2014, 2020 and 2021. Hence, some reports have circulated that BCCI might look to explore that option. However, reports also came out that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have already booked UAE to conduct the remainder of their ongoing Pakistan Super League 10 (PSL 10). But some reports also came out that UAE have denied to host the tournament although no official statements have come out.
England
The England and the Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has reportedly offered to host the remaining matches. Former England Captain Michael Vaughan also tweeted, āI wonder if itās possible to finish the IPL in the UK .. We have all the venues and the Indian players can then stay on for the Test series .. Just a thought ?ā. Reportedly, ECB are in āactive talksā with BCCI for a solution.
South Africa
South Africa hosted a successful IPL 2009 season due to Indiaās general election. The countryās healthy cricket infrastructure makes it a valid option. Also, all six teams that play in the SA20 tournament are all owned by IPL franchise owners. Hence, that relation might be influential in considering this country as a potential host.
