I'm against unnecessary criticism: Rohit Sharma hits back at his critics amidst IPL 2025 Suspension

Rohit Sharma hit back at critics and claimed that it’s unnecessary to criticise the players way too much. While the Indian captain agreed that constructive criticism is needed for the players, he felt that the critics have come hard at him without necessity. Sharma addressed the criticism on his IPL form, numbers against left-handers and other aspects of his game.

The MI batter agreed that criticism is a part and parcel of a cricketer’s life. Sharma added that he is against the critics who offer way too much criticism than is required. He claimed not to have paid heed to anything the critics had to say about his batting. The experienced batter claimed that his batting does not get affected by what critics say about him.

“Criticism is a part of a sportsperson’s life. Criticism is necessary and important. But what I’m against is unnecessary criticism. I don’t like it. There were a lot of things said about me. But I don’t pay attention to any of it, and it doesn’t affect me,” Rohit said in an interview with Vimal Kumar.

“My work is to attack” – Rohit Sharma

He then addressed the criticism of his game against the left-arm pacers. The right-handed batter felt it was not ideal for him to defend the deliveries against the left-arm pacers. Rohit felt attack was the best form of defence.

“So many things have been said about me – like I can’t play left-arm fast bowlers, and many other things – but now, I don’t pay attention to it anymore. Now, if you go and defend it, a lot of things might go wrong. And you will be losing out on time, and time is precious. My work is to attack,” Rohit explained.z

For a long time, Sharma has not had a great season with the bat in the IPL. While he has done well in the IPL 2025, especially in the last 5-6 matches or so, his overall record as a batter has been questioned.Ā
