Sai Sudharsan has been in top form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. He has registered 504 runs in 10 innings so far. Sudharsan has notched up five half-centuries, barring scores of 49 and 48. Ever since the past season, he has been a consistent top-order alternative for Gujarat Titans.
Sudharsan expressed his gratitude towards head coach, Ashish Nehra, as well as the coaching personnel for believing in his potential.
“Thanks to Ashish Nehra and all the support staff and the team, they had the trust in me from the first year. Because wherever you go, whichever team you play for, when a sense of belonging is given, you will also have that responsibility to give it back to the team. That’s the most important thing in any team. So, that has helped me to express myself, whatever I want to do. There’s no judgment here,” shared Sudharsan while speaking on JioHotstar.
He was also of the opinion that his main objective was to create a positive impact for the team and not only target the Orange Cap.
“Getting runs, being more impactful, and doing it at a very good strike rate – that’s where the responsibility kicks in for the team. If you’re consistent enough to make your team cross the line, that’s the most important thing. And the Orange Cap is a by-product. Focusing on the Orange Cap limits your potential. You restrict yourself a bit more because personal preferences come in front of team preferences,” added Sudharsan.

I’ve grown a lot because of Gill and by watching him play: Sudharsan
Sudharsan had a lot of positive remarks to say for GT’s skipper, Shubman Gill. He revealed a few shared experiences with how Gill helped him enhance his game and confidence and how the Indian top-order batter boosts confidence of underperforming players.
“I’ve always looked up to Shubman in these three years. If I have difficulty in the nets or difficulty facing somebody, I will have a conversation with him on what he feels I can do better. I’ve grown a lot because of him and by watching him play. Mentally, he’s a very competitive captain. And I feel he understands what the player needs. He is somebody who will give players who are facing difficulties a comfort zone, where they can come back stronger. We’ve shared a lot of memories on the field as well. Hopefully, we create lovely memories this season too,” he noted.
GT have won seven of their first 10 games till now. Gill has been quite impressive with the bat too. The duo of Sudharsan and Gill have been one of the most consistent opening pairs in the current edition. Meanwhile, the 2022 champions will take on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, May 6.
