Veteran India all-rounder Sneh Rana has been secured by UP Warriorz for Rs 30 lakh at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction, which took place in Kochi, Keralam on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The UP-led franchise added Rana to their squad as they look to strengthen their options ahead of the upcoming season.
Following her selection, Rana thanked the franchise management for placing their faith in her.
“First of all, I want to thank UP Warriorz for picking me. I’m very excited about this opportunity. And as I always say, whenever I get an opportunity, whichever team I go to, I want to give my best for them. Now that I’ve joined UP Warriorz, I want to do the same. Thank you so much to everyone in the management,” Rana said via JioStar.
The WPL 2027 mini-auction in Kochi featured a total of 146 players going under the hammer, with 27 slots available across the five franchises. Updated as of October 28, 2026, at 19:05 IST, Rana’s arrival gives UP Warriorz another experienced all-round option as they finalise their squad.
Before joining UP Warriorz, Rana had captained Gujarat Giants in the WPL. She also served as a replacement player with Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women and represented Delhi Capitals during WPL 2026.
How does Sneh Rana fit into UP Warriorz’s spin bowling unit?
UP Warriorz already have India all-rounder Deepti Sharma and England’s Sophie Ecclestone in their spin bowling ranks. Rana’s addition means the franchise will field a formidable trio of spinners, each capable of contributing with both bat and ball.
Rana highlighted her existing familiarity with Deepti as a key advantage for the unit. She said:
“It’s a very spin bowling unit and Sophie Ecclestone – Deepti Sharma will be bowling with me. I’ve always played with Deepti, so I know her strengths, and there will be good communication between us. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Rana said.
What does Sneh Rana make of playing under Meg Lanning’s captaincy?
“I’m very excited. I’ve always watched her on TV, and even now, seeing her lead UP Warriorz feels really good. Watching her captaincy and the changes she makes is great. So, I’m very excited to play under her,” she concluded.
Australian batter Meg Lanning captains UP Warriorz for WPL 2027. Rana will now have the opportunity to play under one of the most experienced leaders in women’s cricket, and she made clear that this prospect added to her enthusiasm about joining the franchise.
