Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has named the player he thinks is the most similar to his playing style in the Los Blancos squad at the moment. The retired Spaniard represented Los Merengues 542 times, scoring 77 goals and providing 94 assists to help the club to five LaLigas, four Spanish Super Cups, and three UEFA Champions League titles.
In a recent sit-down with Spanish publication Marca, Guti picked out Turkish midfielder Arda Guler as the player in the 15-time Champions League holders’ squad that reminded him of himself the most, saying (via Madrid Universal):
Guler Joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 from boyhood club Fenerbahce for a reported €24 million. While the 20-year-old has struggled for consistent game time, bagging just 2,215 minutes across 55 appearances, he has scored 11 times and provided nine assists to help Los Merengues to one LaLiga, one Spanish Super Cup, one UEFA champions League, and one UEFA Super Cup.
Real Madrid legend Daniel Carvajal hopes to get some minutes at the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States of America. The defender has been sidelined since October with injury, but is close to a full recovery after missing most of the previous campaign.
Speaking about his prospective game time in a recent discussion with FIFA (via Managing Madrid), Carvajal said:
Dani Carvajal came through Real Madrid’s La Fabrica youth system before a short stint with Bayer Leverkusen. He has scored 14 times and provided 65 assists in 427 appearances to help the Spanish giants to six UEFA Champions Leagues, five FIFA Club World Cups, five UEFA Super Cups, four LaLigas, four Spanish Super Cups, and two Copa del Reys.
Patrick’s favorite team is Manchester United for their unparallelled legacy and success in the game. He is a big admirer of Michael Carrick and his ‘smooth’ style of play back in the days. His favorite manager is Jose Mourinho, who according to him, brought a ‘swagger’ to football with his unique managerial style. Robin van Persie’s title-winning volley against Aston Villa for the 2013 PL triumph is etched in his memory forever.
Patrick always uses trusted outlets that produce accurate, balanced and fair information, and which present multiple point of views. He believes in reporting in a holistic manner for the readers’ benefit. If he could change a football rule, he would increase the number of substitutions allowed due to the high number of games played these days, to reduce injuries and so that youngsters get to show their talent as well.
When not covering football, Patrick loves reading, writing poems and short stories, and spend time with his dog Lana.
