Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan was recently asked about MS Dhoni’s future in the Indian Premier League. While the 43-year-old has been a part of every season of the league, with age not being on his side, there arises a question about his future at the end of every season.
It was not any different during an interview where Viswanathan addressed Dhoni’s decision-making. He claimed that the CSK skipper is someone who makes his decisions himself. The CSK CEO claimed that Dhoni’s participation in the IPL or not as a player would be his decision to make. He said if Dhoni takes any decision, he would inform the management.
Viswanathan confirmed that the star player had not informed them about his IPL future yet. His statement came amidst CSK’s fourth consecutive loss in the IPL 2025, with a total of nine losses to their name now.
“It’s his call, we will never tell him anything. If he makes a decision, he will inform us. He hasn’t told us anything,” Viswanathan told.

MS Dhoni’s performances in the IPL 2025
As a wicket-keeper, Dhoni has been good behind the stumps. While he has been decent with the gloves against the pacers, the former India captain has been exceptional against spinners, with great reflexes on display with his stumping and quick glovework.
Even in DRS calls, the legendary keeper has been spot on, more often than not. His batting has been a mixed bag though with a fair share of good and bad performances. His season started with 0*(2) against MI, where he did not have much to do. What followed was his 30*(16), 16(11), and 30*(26) against RCB, RR, and DC, respectively.
Against PBKS, KKR, and LSG, Dhoni scored 27(12), 1(4), and 26*(11), respectively. He hasn’t had a good time in the last four matches, where his scores have been 4(6), 6(10), 11(4), and 12(8) against MI, SRH, PBKS, and RCB, respectively.
