Harmanpreet Singh has returned to captain the Indian men’s hockey team as Hockey India announced a 24-member squad for the European leg of the FIH Pro League 2025-26.

Harmanpreet had missed the Hobart leg of the tournament earlier this year due to personal reasons and now returns to lead the side for crucial matches against the Netherlands, Germany, England and Pakistan.

The Indian team will first travel to Brussels, Belgium, for a preparatory training camp and a friendly match from June 7 to 9 before beginning the Pro League fixtures in Rotterdam.

India will face the Netherlands and Germany between June 14 and 21 in the Netherlands before travelling to London for matches against Pakistan and England from June 23 to 28.

Experienced core retained ahead of World Cup preparations

The squad features a blend of experienced campaigners and younger players as India continue preparations for the upcoming World Cup cycle under chief coach Craig Fulton.

The defensive unit includes Harmanpreet, Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh and Jugraj Singh, while the midfield will be led by experienced names such as Hardik Singh, Manpreet Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad.

India’s forward line features attackers including Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Abhishek and Selvam Karthi.

Hockey India also named five standby players, including goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak and forwards Araijeet Singh Hundal and Maninder Singh.

Speaking about the squad, Fulton said the upcoming European matches would provide India with high-level competition and help assess the team’s progress ahead of future major tournaments.

India’s campaign begins against the Netherlands on June 14 in Rotterdam.
