Ghana’s Black Challenge to compete at WAFF World Cup 2026 in Mexico

Ghana’s National Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge, will proudly represent the nation at the prestigious WAFF Amputee Football World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, from November 13–22, 2026.

The Ghanaians have secured their place among the world’s elite after qualifying for the expanded 24-nation global tournament, joining six other African nations in what promises to be a fiercely competitive championship.

The Football Association, working closely with the National Amputee Football Association of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring thorough preparation and a successful campaign for the Black Challenge ahead of the tournament.

The GFA has also expressed profound appreciation to Gold Fields Ghana Limited for its invaluable support, which is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the team’s preparations and competitiveness at the tournament.

The Black Challenge head to Mexico carrying the hopes of a nation and aiming to translate their continental performance at the World Cup.

The 2026 WAFF World Cup will bring together 24 qualified national teams from across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, all battling for ultimate global supremacy in amputee football.

Qualified Teams for WAFF World Cup 2026

Africa: Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria

Asia: Iran, Iraq, Japan, Uzbekistan

Americas: Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay

Europe: England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey
