The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) commitment to developing women’s football continues to bear fruit as 19 current and former female footballers successfully completed Module One of the FIFA Coach Education Scholarship: All-Female CAF Licence C Coaching Course at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram.
The group, made up of 6 active players and 13 retired players, is among the latest beneficiaries of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy, which seeks to provide clear career pathways for women beyond their playing careers.
This strategy prepares the ex players or about to retire players for the transition from playing careers to employment in coaching after retirement. It also aligns with the policy of the Association to have more female coaches take up roles in Women’s football in Ghana.
The programme equips participants with coaching qualifications while helping to retain valuable football experience, leadership, and expertise within the women’s game.
Speaking after the completion of Module One, Jennifer Ackah emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for players after retirement.
“When players retire without a pathway, we lose knowledge, leadership, and role models from the game. This coach education provides a structured transition into coaching and ensures that experienced players remain part of football development,” she said.
CAF Instructor and former Black Queens head coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo urged participants to use their experiences to inspire the next generation of players.
“Your experience as players is invaluable. Now you have the tools to pass it on properly. You are the bridge between the dreams of young girls and the national teams of tomorrow,” she noted.
The All-Female CAF Licence C Coaching Course forms a key pillar of the GFA Women’s Football Strategy, which prioritizes increasing the number of qualified female coaches, improving player retention, and strengthening coaching capacity across the country.
By supporting players in their transition from the field to the technical area, the initiative continues to build a stronger future for women’s football in Ghana.

8. Christabel Tetteh Annan -Former Player of Hassport Ladies
9. Asaliba Rosalina playing for Bolga All Stars
10. Mohammed rahama former player of tamale super ladies
11. Leticia Afi Zikpi – former player of Black Queens and player of Immigration Ladies FC
12. Sarah Humble Ayimedu – Former player for Faith Ladies FC
13. Theresa Adu- Asante – Former player of Oaks Fc
