The Ghana Football Association participated in the National Forum on Trafficking Through Sports held on April 16, 2026, at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) Conference Hall in Legon.

The forum was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation. It brought together senior officials from World Cup host countries and key stakeholders to deliberate on the growing concerns of fraudulent job offers and human trafficking linked to major sporting events.

The initiative aimed to foster collaboration, raise awareness, and strengthen preventive measures against trafficking risks within the global sports ecosystem.

Representing the GFA at the forum was its Integrity and Compliance Officer, Obed Tuffour, who participated in a panel discussion held under the theme “Play it Safe: Choose the Right Path in Sports”.

During the session, Mr. Tuffour highlighted key regulatory and operational initiatives the Association is actively pursuing, particularly in relation to International Transfer Certificate (ITC) processes and regulated player transfers.

The GFA’s participation in the forum reflects its continued commitment to promoting integrity, safeguarding players, and contributing to global efforts aimed at combating trafficking and exploitation in sport.

He also highlighted the work the Football Association has been doing with the Interpol Unit of the Police Police Service in this area.
