The Football Association, through its GFA Medical Committee, will organize a mid-season medical refresher workshop for medical personnel across the country’s football ecosystem on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

The workshop, themed “Tackling Mid-Season Overuse Injuries,” forms part of the Football Association’s ongoing efforts to strengthen medical support systems within Ghanaian football and enhance the capacity of club medical staff to effectively manage player health during the demanding stages of the season.

The session will bring together medical representatives from clubs competing in the Premier League, Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League and Access Bank Division One League, as well as medical personnel from clubs operating under the umbrella of the various Regional Football Associations.

The refresher workshop will focus on equipping medical staff with updated knowledge and practical approaches to addressing injuries that commonly arise from continuous physical exertion during the campaign.

Participants will explore key topics including the risks and aetiology of overuse injuries, offering insight into the underlying causes and contributing factors that predispose footballers to such conditions during intense competition schedules.

The workshop will also examine the management of common overuse injuries in football, providing guidance on evidence-based treatment methods, rehabilitation strategies and preventive measures that can help minimize time lost through injury while ensuring the long-term well-being of players.

A central feature of the session will be clinical case discussions, where practitioners will analyze real-life scenarios and share professional experiences aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment decisions and recovery protocols within club environments.

The workshop is expected to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing and continued professional development among practitioners responsible for player care in Ghanaian football.
