The Technical Directorate of the Football Association, in collaboration with the German International School Accra (GISA) and Faces of Football, hosted the second edition of the Football4Girls campaign on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at GISA’s campus on Ring Road in Accra.

This year’s event, themed “Football Meets Finance,” was spearheaded by Petra Landers, a former German women’s national team player and renowned advocate for girls’ participation in sports. Landers’ vision is to inspire and empower girls between the ages of 12 and 16 to embrace football as a pathway to building teamwork, confidence and life skills.

Thirty girls drawn from GISA, Chances for Children International School and Bright Future School took part in a friendly football tournament, with each participant receiving a certificate of participation. Beyond the matches, the day featured engaging on- and off-pitch activities, including fun games, interactive sessions and community coaching training aligned with Landers’ upcoming camps in Ghana’s Upper East Region.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the initiative, Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, the Football Association’s Women’s Football Development Manager, presented key insights into the FA’s Women’s Football Strategy. She outlined technical pathways and practical steps being implemented to strengthen grassroots development and expand opportunities for girls nationwide.

The Football4Girls campaign forms an integral part of the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy Implementation Program, which is committed to nurturing female talent and promoting gender equity within the sport.
