As part of the ongoing Free Licence D Coaching Course in the Upper West Region, a dedicated session on first aid, safety, and injury prevention has been held, with expert facilitation by the Ghana Red Cross Society.

The training took place at the B.K. Adama Youth Resource Centre in Wa, where 30 colts club coaches are currently undergoing certification.

The session focused on equipping grassroots coaches with essential life-saving skills and emergency response techniques required to protect young footballers during training and matches.

Coaches were taken through practical demonstrations and discussions on how to manage common injuries, assess player safety, and administer first aid in high-pressure situations.

“This training is a vital component of the coaching course,” said a representative from the Ghana Red Cross Society. “We are not only training football coaches, but also empowering them to be guardians of safety for the children they mentor.”

The first aid session aligns with the GFA’s broader vision of building a safe, responsible, and professional grassroots football environment. It ensures that coaches can respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, ultimately fostering a healthier and more secure space for youth football development.

The ongoing Licence D Coaching Course, which began on July 14 and runs through July 21, continues to make significant strides in raising the technical and ethical standards of youth football coaching all over the country.
