Statistician Shaban Mohammed previews the final stretch of the Ghana Premier League season, with nine matches left to determine the champion. After 25 games, Medeama SC lead the table with 46 points, closely followed by Bibiani Gold Stars on 45 points, while Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak sit joint third with 41 points each.
In recent seasons, clubs from the Western Region have dominated, with Medeama SC, FC Samartex 1996, and Bibiani Gold Stars all winning their first-ever league titles consecutively, and the trend could continue as the current top two maintain strong form.
Medeama SC, however, face a challenging run-in with five away fixtures, including crucial trips to Dreams FC, Bechem United, and a potentially decisive final-day clash against Hearts of Oak, giving them an estimated 32% chance of winning the title.
Bibiani Gold Stars, the defending champions, appear slightly favored with a 34% probability due to their strong home form, having five matches at home despite tricky away fixtures against Aduana FC, Karela United, and Dreams FC, as they aim to become the first club in recent years to successfully defend the title.
Aduana FC remain in contention with an 18% chance but must navigate a difficult schedule that includes a key home fixture against Asante Kotoko alongside five away matches, while Hearts of Oak, with a 16% probability, could emerge as dark horses given their five home games and decisive fixtures against teams like Heart of Lions, Nations FC, and FC Samartex 1996, with their final-day encounter against Medeama SC potentially determining the outcome of the title race.
