FIFA TDS: Western Region thump Volta Region as Elite U15 Girls’ Championship heats up on Matchday Five

The Elite U15 Girls’ Championship took another dramatic turn on Matchday 5 at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, with Western Region delivering a commanding 3–1 victory over Volta Region.

For Volta Region, this was their second loss of the campaign after five outings, as setback that dents their earlier momentum as they lost to Western Region 1:3.

Western Region opened the scoring midway through the first half, converting a well-worked move from the right flank. Volta responded before the break, equalizing with a composed finish to briefly restore parity. However, Western regained the lead shortly after the restart and added a third in the closing stages to seal the emphatic win.

Brong Ahafo continue impressive run

Brong Ahafo Region solidified their reputation as the most consistent side in the tournament, having now played five matches and lost only one. On Matchday 5, they produced a polished performance to defeat Upper West Region 3–0.

Upper East and Greater Accra share spoils

Upper East Region played out a 1–1 draw with Greater Accra. The match was decided on penalties, with Greater Accra holding their nerve to claim the bonus point after the shootout, leaving Upper East to rue missed opportunities in regulation time.

Northern Region edge Eastern Region on penalties

Northern Region continued to showcase their growing talent pool, battling to a goalless stalemate with Eastern Region before triumphing in the penalty shootout.

Ashanti Region suffer shootout heartbreak

Elite Academy Bolga and Ashanti Region served up an entertaining 1–1 draw in normal time. The match was ultimately decided by penalties, with Elite Academy Bolga emerging victorious as Ashanti Region faltered from the spot. It was a cruel end for Ashanti, who had matched their opponents for large stretches of the game.
