The Talent Identification Programme is set to continue in the Ashanti Region for the Northern Sector following its successful launch in the Southern Sector of the country. The initiative, which forms part of the Association’s long-term strategy to discover and nurture young football talent across Ghana, will run from Monday, March 9 to Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The first phase of the Northern Sector programme will take place at Kumasi Anglican Senior High School from March 9–11, before moving to Obuasi Senior High Technical School from March 12–14, 2026. The programme is expected to attract participants from several regions within the Northern Sector of Ghana.

The Talent Identification Programme is designed to equip Physical Education tutors, colts coaches, district coordinators and individuals with an interest in coaching with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to develop football at the grassroots level. Participants will undergo seminars focused on basic coaching principles, talent identification and development, as well as modern scouting techniques.

As part of the programme, a football festival will be organised for pupils from basic schools to showcase their abilities on the field. The festival will provide an opportunity for technical experts and scouts to identify promising talents who could be nurtured through the GFA’s development structures.

Outstanding players discovered during the festival will have the chance to be considered for selection into the various junior national teams as well as the GFA’s football academies, creating a pathway for young talents to progress within the national football ecosystem.

The initiative underscores the commitment of the Ghana Football Association to strengthening grassroots football and building a sustainable pipeline of talent capable of representing Ghana at the highest levels of the game. Through education, scouting and structured development, the programme aims to ensure that young footballers across the country are given the opportunity to realise their potential.
