The final group stage matches of the championship delivered high drama, stunning goals, and heartbreak, setting the stage for a thrilling final. Here is a look at how the action unfolded across the groups.

GROUP A

Western Region solidified its championship credentials with a 3-0 victory over Volta Region. The match was effectively decided by Sheila Owusu, who orchestrated a first-half masterclass. She broke the deadlock after just four minutes and then sealed a brilliant individual performance with a second goal in the 35th minute. Any lingering hope for Volta was extinguished just before halftime when Olivia Minah added a third goal for Western Region.

Northern Region secured their victory in a match defined by a disastrous start for Upper East. A mere minute after kick-off, defender Alfreda Asayiaklu, in a moment of sheer misfortune, sent the ball into her own net while attempting a clearance. The struggle deepened for Upper East when Northern was awarded a penalty, but a missed spot-kick offered a brief lifeline. However, any hope of a comeback was dashed immediately after the restart, as Northern’s Zuberu Hikima found the net in the 46th minute to seal a 2-0 win.

Greater Accra demonstrated its offensive firepower by overpowering Eastern Elite B with two early goals. Venunye Agblebe set the tone, striking just three minutes into the game to put her side in front. The pressure continued, and Jessica Yaa Dzamasi doubled the lead in the 17th minute, effectively putting the game out of reach. The 2-0 victory was a professional and powerful performance, ensuring Greater Accra finished the group stages on a high and advanced to the final.

GROUP B

Eastern Elite Academy closed out their Group B campaign with a solid 2-0 away win against Upper West. They controlled the tempo and broke the deadlock in the 27th minute through Atibila Barbara. Any resistance from Upper West was quickly quashed at the start of the second half, as Eastern Elite’s Gaab Steller scored just a minute after the break, securing the three points and a confident finish to their group stage journey.

In the tightest contest of the day, Ashanti and Central played out a tense and goalless draw in regulation time. Both defences stood firm, with chances at a premium throughout the match. With neither side able to find a breakthrough, the match was ultimately decided from the penalty spot. Central Region scored 7 out of 7 penalty kicks while Ashanti scored 6 out of 7 penalty kicks.

In a thrilling encounter, Brong Ahafo emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Eastern Region. The match was dominated by the clinical finishing of Amina Adam, who proved to be the difference-maker by scoring both goals for the winning side. Eastern fought valiantly and managed to pull one back through a goal from Eyiram Janet, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit. This crucial win propelled Brong Ahafo to the top of the group, earning them a place in the championship final.

The stage is now set for a spectacular final, where Greater Accra will face Brong Ahafo for the ultimate prize.
