The Catch Them Young Referees took another major step in their development as they officiated matches in the Elite U15 Girls Inter-Regional Tournament currently underway at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

This initiative forms part of the Capacity Building Course jointly organized by the Football Association  and FIFA under the FIFA League Development Programme, aimed at providing practical learning experiences for young female referees.

Madam Emmanuella Aglago, a former FIFA referee and mentor for the programme, provided on-field guidance and support to the young officials throughout the matches. She emphasized the importance of blending mentorship with practical sessions.

Madam Millicent Kanor, the programme’s Fitness Instructor, commended the girls’ progress and discipline in the Elite U15 Girls Championship and said it will lay a strong foundation for their advancement into national and international officiating roles.

Adding her perspective, Madam Louisa Amanor emphasized the importance of the practical sessions, highlighting how they enhance the referees’ communication, decision-making and match management skills.

The Catch Them Young Refereeing initiative remains a cornerstone of the GFA’s youth development strategy,  empowering young female officials with the knowledge, confidence, and experience needed to excel in officiating at the highest levels of the game.
