The selected referees from the GFA’s Catch Them Young program have officially begun preparations for the upcoming FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) U-15 Boys Championship at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

A total of 10 referees and 10 assistant referees drawn from the ten football regions of Ghana are currently undergoing intensive training as part of the buildup to the prestigious youth tournament. The exercise is designed to sharpen their technical and physical readiness ahead of the competition.

The group is being supervised by two GFA Regional Technical Instructors and one fitness instructor, who are taking them through a series of drills including running, coordination, and endurance exercises.

Beyond the physical training, the referees are also engaged in theoretical and practical sessions on the Laws of the Game, aimed at enhancing their decision-making and application of modern refereeing standards.

The GFA’s Catch Them Young refereeing project, launched to identify and groom talented young referees, has become a vital platform in building Ghana’s next generation of officials. The program is directly linked to CAF and FIFA’s agenda of creating sustainable referee development pathways.

Officials at Prampram have expressed optimism that this training camp will not only prepare the referees for the FIFA TDS Championship but also serve as a foundation for their growth into national and international officiating roles.

The FIFA TDS U-15 Boys Championship is set to bring together the best young football talents from across the country, and the referees’ participation is expected to guarantee the highest officiating standards during the tournament.
