The World Football governing body, FIFA, held a minute of silence to honor Ghanaian football legend Wilberforce Mfum and Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, during the 75th FIFA Congress in Asunción, Paraguay, on May 15, 2025.

Wilberforce Mfum’s Legacy:

– Member of Ghana’s 1963 Africa Cup of Nations-winning squad, scoring crucial goals in the tournament and final

– Scored 20 goals in 26 appearances for Ghana

– Played for Asante Kotoko, Swedru All Blacks, and several teams in the United States of America, including Baltimore Bays and New York Cosmos

– Participated in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan

– Passed away on May 11, 2025, at 88 years old

Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley)
