The Football Association has commenced the League Development Project’s Capacity Building Course for the Catch Them Young (CTY) female referees under the FIFA Women’s Development Programme at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

This initiative forms part of the Football Association’s broader effort to develop women’s league football and strengthen key aspects of the game to ensure sustainability and retention of referees across the country.

The opening ceremony of the first training batch was attended by notable figures including Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, Women’s Football Development Manager; Louisa Amanor, CAF/GFA Referees Physical Instructor; Barbara Yankah; Fautina Kware, Clemencia Anyaana and Millicent Amanor, CAF/GFA Referee Fitness Instructor.

In her opening remarks, Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong welcomed all participants and outlined the objectives of the course,  to equip young female referees with the essential knowledge, technical understanding and professional skills needed to excel in their officiating careers and contribute to the ongoing growth of women’s football in Ghana.

Madam Millicent Amanor, CAF/GFA Referee Fitness Instructor, led participants through a series of physical fitness assessments and practical refereeing sessions, emphasizing the importance of endurance, agility, and discipline in officiating.

The GFA remains committed to developing young, skilled, and confident referees, ensuring they are well-prepared to officiate at the highest levels of the game and play a vital role in the advancement of women’s football nationwide.
