The Football Association, in collaboration with FIFA, has successfully completed the first batch of the Referee Capacity Building Course under the FIFA Women’s Development Programme: League Development.

The training took place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE), Prampram, from Monday, 6th to Thursday, 9th October 2025.

This special training programme was designed for members of the Catch Them Young (CTY) Female Referee initiative, a flagship GFA project aimed at nurturing and developing young refereeing talent across the country.

The course equipped participants with the knowledge, skills and professionalism required to excel at the highest levels of the game, while also contributing to the growth of women’s football in Ghana.

A highlight of the event was the inspiring success story of Referee Emmanuella Aglago, one of the outstanding products of the Catch Them Young initiative.

She shared her journey with the participants, motivating them to stay dedicated and focused on their ambitions. Her story served as a powerful reminder of what determination and hard work can achieve.

The training also emphasized how the Catch Them Young programme has positively impacted the number of girls and women participating in football, not only as players but also as match officials, coaches and administrators.

At the closing session, the young referees were presented with certificates of merit in recognition of their successful completion of the course.

The second phase of the programme is scheduled to commence on Monday, 14th October 2025, where the participants will put their training into practice by officiating in the Elite U-17 Girls Championship, a practical step towards refining their on-field experience and confidence.
