England have announced a 16-player squad for the ODI tri-series scheduled from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore. Harry Brook will captain the side as England prepare to face Pakistan and Sri Lanka across seven matches in the tournament format. The squad includes several players returning from injury and one uncapped leg-spinner earning a recall after consistent domestic performances.
Marcus North, England Men’s National Selector, outlined the squad composition and the reasoning behind key selections. Adil Rashid returns to the squad following a hand injury that ruled him out of England’s recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, which England won 2-1. Sam Curran also comes back into the squad after recovering from a groin injury. Jos Buttler, however, misses the assignment with a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI against Sri Lanka.
“The tri-series in Pakistan provides another valuable opportunity for our ODI squad to test themselves against quality opposition in different conditions. Adil Rashid and Sam Curran return to the squad following their respective injuries while Jofra Archer has been rested to manage his workload following a busy summer,” North said in a media release from ECB.
“Mason Crane has been performing consistently for Glamorgan across both formats during the summer. He’s an experienced, high-class leg-spinner who thoroughly deserves another opportunity at international level,” he added.
Mason Crane earns recall after consistent Glamorgan form
Crane, a Glamorgan leg-spinner, last represented England in the 2018 fifth Ashes Test in Sydney. He has two IT20 appearances to his name from 2017. His inclusion marks a return to the international setup after a period away from the England squad, with his recent form for Glamorgan across both formats earning him another chance at ODI level.
Adil Rashid’s return comes after a hand injury kept him sidelined during England’s ODI series against Sri Lanka earlier in the year. Sam Curran has also recovered from a groin injury to earn his place in the squad. Both players bring experience to the middle order and bowling attack as England prepare for the tri-series challenge.

James Coles and Henry Crocombe, both uncapped players from Sussex, have also been included in the squad. Both players featured in England’s white-ball squads during the summer of 2026, and their selection reflects their development within the domestic system.
Jofra Archer has been rested from the tri-series to manage his workload following a busy summer schedule. Jos Buttler misses out due to a hamstring injury sustained during the Metro Bank ODI series against Sri Lanka. The squad balances experience with emerging talent as England prepare for the challenges ahead in Pakistan.

The tri-series will see matches held across both Rawalpindi and Lahore, with the final scheduled for October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium. England’s opening match comes on October 20 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, followed by their first encounter with Sri Lanka on October 22 at the same venue. The tournament provides valuable preparation for England’s upcoming international commitments.
