Two Ghanaian coaches, Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum and Joe Nana Adarkwa, are in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, participating in a three-day coaching seminar for U17 coaches organised by WAFU Zone B.

The seminar, which runs from February 8 to 10, has brought together 14 youth coaches from across the sub-region to engage in high-level discussions on modern football and emerging trends in the game.

The programme is being held under the supervision of the WAFU-B President, Ibrahim Gusau with assistance from the WAFU B Executive Director Philippe Kyere whose presence underscores the importance the regional body places on youth development and technical capacity building.

The seminar aims to equip coaches with contemporary knowledge and tools required to effectively nurture young talents in an ever-evolving football landscape.

Ghana is strongly represented by Dr. Ogum, head coach of the national U17 boys’ team, the Black Starlets, and Joe Nana Adarkwa, head coach of the U17 girls’ national team, the Black Maidens.

Their participation reflects Ghana’s continued commitment to developing its youth national teams through exposure to modern coaching methodologies and international best practices.

The seminar is being facilitated by experienced instructors Raymond Tchaye of Benin and Adama Guira of Burkina Faso, with FIFA technical supervisor Sanon Firmin providing additional oversight.

The morning session was dedicated to studying the evolution of modern football, highlighting new technical and tactical trends shaping the contemporary game.

Through interactive discussions and presentations, participating coaches gained deeper insights into how these trends can be applied to grassroots and elite U17 football across the WAFU Zone B region.
