The Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) has written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to report a corruption approach made to Delhi-based wicketkeeper-batter Vansh Bedi during the recent Delhi Premier League (DPL) season. The development emerged on September 23, amid wider allegations of match-fixing linked to a Tehelka sting operation involving a Chennai Super Kings player.

Bedi, 23, was approached by a player from Uttar Pradesh during the DPL 2026 season. He immediately reported the approach to the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU). Bedi was part of the Central Delhi Kings during DPL 2026, a season whose final was won by South Delhi Superstarz on August 31.

“We have asked the BCCI with regards to this. We will abide by the BCCI advice – what they advise. Any person involved in the anti-corruption activity will not be spared. He or they will be held accountable. The league was overseen by the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit and an anti-corruption official was attached to each team,” a DDCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

It further confirmed it had shared all relevant information with the appropriate authorities.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes,” the official statement read further.

What did the Tehelka sting operation allege?

The Tehelka sting operation exposed former Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia making match-fixing claims. Bhatia alleged that a CSK player had provided classified information to London-based bookmakers for INR 60 lakh during a match in the 2025 IPL season. Bhatia also claimed he personally earned INR 3 crore by selling classified information.

Bedi, who was picked by Chennai Super Kings for INR 55 lakh ahead of the 2025 IPL season, was subsequently named in social media speculation linking him to these allegations. He was released by CSK after the 2025 season and remained unsold at the 2026 IPL auction. Bedi issued a public denial through a social media post.

“I would like to clarify certain false and defamatory content circulating on social media and websites concerning me. I categorically state that I am not the individual referred to by Ex-Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia in the Tehelka sting operation concerning alleged match-fixing involving a CSK player, nor do I have any involvement whatsoever in any such activity,” Bedi shared.

How did DDCA and BCCI respond to the corruption report?

The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit had already been overseeing the DPL, with an anti-corruption official attached to each team throughout the tournament. The DDCA’s decision to formally write to the BCCI follows Bedi’s own proactive reporting of the approach he received during the league.

The CSK board was scheduled to meet within 24 hours of September 23, ahead of the franchise’s annual general meeting on September 25. The identity of the CSK player allegedly involved in providing information to bookmakers, as claimed by Bhatia, has not been confirmed by any official body.
