CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez reckons Argentina captain Lionel Messi should play the Libertadores Cup, the only major tournament he has never played, following the Argentine’s international retirement earlier this week.
Messi, 39, played his final international game on Tuesday as the Albiceleste beat Benin 3-0 in a friendly at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. Playing the entire 90 minutes, La Pulga set up the second-half strikes from the retiring Nicolas Otamendi and Nico Paz before getting on the scoresheet from the spot late on.
