The Golden State Warriors lost on Saturday night, falling 102-97 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. They now trail the Wolves 2-1 in their playoff series, and are in desperate need of a win on Monday. While it was a disappointing end result, the Warriors put up a strong effort in Steph Curry’s absence.

Here’s how Warriors fans reacted to the action, as seen through the Golden State of Mind game thread.

First quarter: ‘Way better start’

The Warriors looked good out of the gates, with better spacing and Jimmy Butler III looking to attack. After falling behind a bit early, they came roaring back behind Butler and Jonathan Kuminga, and tied the game 21-21 going into the second frame.

Too many passes, shoot the damn ball Butler
nbatrademachine
This offense is bad but perhaps Julius Randel offense might be worse.

Jimmy looking to score is encouraging
edhardyevents
Way better start than Game 2. I see this game as a must win. Everyone saying Curry is coming back in game 5 doesn’t quite understand how Hammies work
m.arkal
Two TOs between Green and Butler already. That should not happen. Cannot happen.
King4307
JK GO GET THAT BAG

Second quarter: ‘Kuminga gets to the rim with ease’

After taking a lead early in the quarter, the Warriors fell behind by 10 points, before rattling off nine unanswered points. Kuminga was playing exceptionally well, as the Warriors took a lead late in the half, and led 42-40 at the break, despite having failed to make a single three.

The whole JK and Jimmy can’t play together in the same line up narrative looks pretty crazy right about now. If Kerr started the right line up, maybe we won’t have to claw back from a deficit
ZooMass
Podz just isn’t playable right now.
Snakes In The Lane
Kuminga gets to the rim with ease. We have a desperate need for that
AsFan79
Lmao Minnesota is now the greatest 3 pt shooting team of all time. Haha tbh is won’t continue but wtf
GSWGSWGSW
Self inflicted disaster
Steph_W
If we can’t match their three-point shooting, there’s not much we can do. Defense only gets you halfway. They are 16-4 in the last 4 minutes, 6/15 from three and we are 0/3.
m.arkal
Minnesota actually looks like crap. They might yet give this game away.

Gobert getting clowned by Butler and JK.

We are missing literally missing every jumpshots that we attempt, but somehow still lead the Wolves by 2 into half time

Third quarter: ‘Playoff Jimmy!’

It was a very fun third quarter. Once again Kuminga and Butler were the heroes for the. Dubs, though this time they were joined by Buddy Hield, who came alive. The teams went back and forth, and the Warriors led 73-69 as we went to the final frame.

m.arkal
What a move by Butler!
ZooMass
Draymond sits and the Wolves get three straight drives to the rim. I cannot stress how insane of a defender he is. Still the best on earth.
m.arkal
KUMINGA!
m.arkal
BUDDY!
SiliconValleyWinged
Yeah, maybe playing JK isn’t such a bad idea after all.
Tom Ryugo
Playoff Jimmy!

Fourth quarter: ‘What a train wreck’

But alas, they couldn’t hold the lead in the fourth. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle went deep in their bags and pulled out the full array of star tricks. Combined with Draymond Green fouling out, the Warriors were unable to match a healthy Timberwolves team in the game’s critical moments.

AsFan79
Dray, Jimmy, Kuminga and Buddy must be on the entire 4th
King4307
Jimmy and jk attacking like gobert don’t exist lmao
KRod24
Dray fouled out
AsFan79
Wow. What a train wreck 4th quarter.
Minnesota is just not a good team. Yikes
KRod24
Why is Scott Foster still allowed to ref games?
chimesoffreedom
Close but no cigar 🙁
