The Football Association has confirmed the appointment of four Catch Them Young Referees to officiate the curtain-raiser match of the 2025 Democracy Cup, which will see Members of Parliament square off against the Judiciary.

Young referee Christopher Okpoti will serve as the centre referee, supported by Andy Afotey Annan (Assistant I) and Kamal Iddrisu (Assistant II). Nana Kofi Amoah will take charge as the fourth official.

The special encounter, which highlights the spirit of unity and national celebration, is scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium. Kick-off is set for 3pm local time (13:00GMT).

The match will bring together two key arms of government in a symbolic show of sportsmanship and camaraderie. On the parliamentary side, Majority Leader Hon. Mahama Ayariga will line up alongside Minority Leader Hon. Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, with staff of Parliament completing the squad. They will be up against a Judiciary team made up of leading judges and staff of the Judicial Service.

The fixture serves as the opening act for the second edition of the Democracy Cup, a competition introduced to commemorate Ghana’s commitment to parliamentary democracy.
