Sports radio host Fred Toucher ripped Bryce Harper over the Phillies star’s role in baseball’s salary cap fight. He argued that a player making $40 million was in no position to carry on as if he was speaking for the whole team. Toucher’s verdict on Harper’s clubhouse clash with commissioner Rob Manfred.
Harper is a two-time National League MVP and one of the sport’s marquee names, on the 13-year, $330 million deal he signed in 2019. The moment Toucher described dates to July 2025, when Manfred visited the Phillies and Harper, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, challenged him over a possible salary cap.
Toucher made the comments on the Wednesday edition of “Toucher and Hardy,” the Boston show he co-hosts with Rob “Hardy” Poole on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
