Black Starlets head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, delivered an inspiring career guidance session to students of SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College in Tema Community 6 on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Dr. Ogum, who recently led the Black Starlets to their first AFCON qualification since 2017 during the WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in Ivory Coast, was invited by the school to speak on career development and the importance of purposeful decision-making among young people.

In his address, Dr. Ogum shared insights from his journey as a sports psychologist, educationist, and professional coach, urging students to pursue their passions with discipline, resilience, and integrity. He emphasized that success is not limited to one path and that career choices should align with one’s strengths and values.

“Every student has a unique talent and purpose,” Dr. Ogum noted. “It’s important to identify what drives you and stay committed to it, even when challenges come your way. The key is to combine hard work with smart choices.”

The session highlighted the importance of career guidance in shaping students’ futures, particularly in an era where young people face numerous academic and career options. Dr. Ogum stressed that mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals help students make informed decisions, build confidence, and develop a sense of direction early in life.

The students and faculty expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Ogum’s visit, describing it as both enlightening and motivating. His presence not only inspired them to aim higher but also reinforced the value of education, focus, and determination in achieving lifelong goals.
