Black Queens coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, has embarked on a scouting mission in Malta to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The visit is part of the technical team’s strategy to identify and assess eligible Ghanaian players based abroad who could add depth and quality to the national team.

During the trip, the coach met and assessed four potential players: Kassim Mariama and Naila Adoma Addo, formerly of Fosu Royal Ladies, former Black Princesses striker Salamatu Nte Abdulai, and Selina Animah, formerly of Berry Ladies.

As part of the scouting exercise, the Black Queens coach is expected to watch Salamatu Nte Abdulai, who features for Swieqi United, and Selina Animah of Birkirkara Women, in competitive league action later in the day.

The live match assessments will allow the technical team to evaluate their match fitness, tactical awareness, and adaptability to the national team’s style of play.

The Malta scouting mission underscores the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to expanding the talent pool for the Black Queens, particularly by tapping into Ghanaian players excelling in European leagues.

With WAFCON 2026 approaching, the technical team is keen on building a balanced squad that blends local experience with international exposure.

The GFA will announce plans for the Black Queens in the coming days as the team seeks to intensify preparations aimed at making a strong impact on the continental stage.
