Ghana’s national eFootball team, the Black Asteroids, have made an encouraging start to the FIFAe Nations League 2026 campaign following the completion of Match Week 1 across the three titles: eFootball™ Console, eFootball™ Mobile and Rocket League.

The Black Asteroids secured strong positions in two of the three disciplines, highlighting Ghana’s growing presence on the African FIFAe scene as nations compete for places at the FIFAe Continental Championship 2026.

In the eFootball™ Console category, Ghana finished Match Week 1 ranked 9th in Africa with 130 consistency points, placing ahead of countries such as Nigeria and Seychelles. Morocco lead the standings with 200 points, followed by Madagascar and Kenya.

Ghana also recorded a respectable performance in Rocket League, ending the opening week tied for 9th place with 120 points alongside Nigeria and Seychelles. Morocco again topped the standings with 200 points, while South Africa and Tunisia completed the top three.

In the eFootball™ Mobile competition, Ghana finished in 17th place with 40 points after the opening week. Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe currently occupy the leading positions in the Mobile rankings. This was a very slow start from the team due to the 2v2 format introduced into the competition this year. The Black Asteroids are working very hard to build a strong chemistry and improve on their performances in the coming match weeks.

According to the FIFAe Nations League format published on FIFA.GG, national teams accumulate “consistency points” throughout the three qualification weeks based on performances in both the group stages and knockout rounds. The system rewards nations that consistently
perform at a high level across all stages of the competition.

FIFA explains that the rankings are designed to balance consistency and peak performances during knockout matches, with nations earning points during every stage of the competition. Teams with the highest overall consistency points at the end of the Nations League will qualify
for the FIFAe Continental Championships.

For Africa, qualification slots to the FIFAe Continental Championship 2026 differ depending on the title:

eFootball™ Console: Africa has 8 qualification spots available — five through the consistency rankings and three direct qualification spots from Week 3 performances.
eFootball™ Mobile: Africa also has 8 qualification spots — five through consistency rankings and three through Week 3 qualification.
Rocket League: Africa has 8 qualification places — five via consistency rankings and three earned directly during Week 3.

The FIFAe Nations League 2026 is being played across three online qualification windows, with Match Weeks 2 and 3 still to come. The remaining fixtures will be crucial as the Black Asteroids seek to climb the continental rankings and secure qualification to the FIFAe Continental Championship 2026.

Ghana’s performances so far underline the steady growth of esports football within the country, with the Black Asteroids continuing to establish themselves among Africa’s emerging FIFAe nations.
