The Men’s Selection Committee has selected the India A squad for the upcoming home series against Australia A, comprising two multi-day matches and three one-day games in Puducherry.
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been given the responsibility to lead the one-day squad. The star top-order batter, thus, may not be in the reckoning for India’s upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies.
Meanwhile, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also been called to the side, with his place in the side subject to obtainment of fitness clearance from the Centre of Excellence. Fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak is also required to be declared fit before taking part in the series.
Devdutt Padikkal to captain the red-ball side
Meanwhile, the selectors have handpicked Devdutt Padikkal as the captain of the side for the two multi-day encounters where his India peer Sai Sudharsan is the vice-captain. Padikkal will also be Ruturaj’s deputy in the one-day squad. Â
