The battle for promotion in Zone Two of the Access Bank Division One League intensified over the weekend, with FC FC AshantiGold ’04 solidifying their position at the top with a dominant victory. However, title contenders Ebusua Dwarfs hit a snag, and newly Nsuopun Fidelity FC faced further struggles.

AshantiGold cruises to convincing victory
FC AshantiGold ’04 delivered a strong statement of intent on Sunday, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over a struggling Elmina Sharks FC at the Gyamfi Park in Bekwai. This crucial win significantly boosted their Premier League promotion hopes. Richmond Fosu initiated the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute, giving the hosts a first-half lead. Raphael Ankamah then doubled the advantage with another penalty in the 63rd minute, before Christopher Agyekum wrapped up the win with a fine stoppage-time finish. AshantiGold now commands the top spot with 52 points from 24 matches.

Ebusua Dwarfs held to frustrating draw
In a blow to their title ambitions, Zone Two contenders Ebusua Dwarfs were held to a frustrating goalless draw at home by former Premier League side New Edubiase United FC at the Senya District Assembly Astro Turf on Saturday. This result extends Dwarfs’ winless run to three matches. Despite dominating possession throughout the game, Ebusua Dwarfs failed to convert their numerous chances, with both teams ultimately guilty of missing clear opportunities. The draw keeps Ebusua Dwarfs in second place, now on 43 points after 24 matches.

Nsuopun Fidelity FC suffers third straight defeat
The challenges continued for newly promoted Nsuopun Fidelity FC, who suffered their third consecutive defeat in Zone Two—their worst run since gaining promotion this season. They fell 2-0 at home to Ebony FC at the Dominase Astro Turf on Sunday. Ransford Peprah opened the scoring for the visitors, and Samuel Gyasi sealed the victory with a decisive 85th-minute strike. This defeat sees Nsuopun Fidelity FC drop to fourth place with 38 points.
