Though they are clear on their goals—that the team should be built around him—Atletico is not seeking to get involved in a bidding war. The conviction Simeone and the club’s management share that Alvarez is a building block for the team going forward validates this attitude.
Despite the external pressure, Atletico Madrid still believe they may keep their star forward. Alvarez apparently resides in Madrid and not especially eager on a comeback to the Premier League.
