Arsenal supporters expecting a speedy signing of a new striker may have to hold back for a while. The Gunners do not need to rush into signing a new attacker this summer. Rumors indicate Mikel Arteta and Edu are being cautious to evaluate the market and identify a suitable player. Following a strong run last term, the team wishes to build gradually, rather than make a hasty signing that is not part of their strategy.

The Gunners already possess Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, yet both have suffered injury spells and inconsistent performances. Therefore, a new recruit is still anticipated. Nonetheless, Arsenal’s strategy is not about speed but quality. The appropriate striker needs to suit their system, provide consistency, and make contributions across competitions.

Arsenal are aware of the need for a clinical finisher. They nearly won the league last season but didn’t have a goal machine that they could rely on. Rather than panic buy, they seek a forward who can provide more than simply goals. The club requires someone who is adaptable enough to fit in with Arteta’s attack and high pressing theme.

Also, the market is bloated. Highly rated strikers such as Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres are tagged with substantial prices. Arsenal are observing how those negotiations progress while also having other reserve possibilities such as Benjamin Sesko or Evan Ferguson in mind. They scout throughout Europe but will not spend more unless they are certain.

Mikel Arteta appreciates his existing team. Gabriel Jesus offers movement and interplay, even if he doesn’t score every week. Nketiah, not as refined, is a hard worker and offers depth. Youngsters such as Folarin Balogun can also come back into the mix if necessary.

So Arsenal are not desperate. They will wait if it means getting the right player. That patience indicates how far the club has traveled. They’re no longer patching up holes. They’re creating a team that endures.

In contrast to previous years, there is now a plan in place for Arsenal’s recruitment. Arteta and Edu desire signings that will be valuable in the long term. That implies age, mentality, injury record, and tactical compatibility are important. The “next striker” has to mix with stars Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli.

This strategy has paid off with players such as Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard. Both were signed following extended assessment but have since become integral players. Arteta would hope the same for the next striker: a player who develops with the club and doesn’t come in simply to make the headlines.

While the gradual approach seems to be paying dividends, Arsenal remain associated with a number of high-profile names. Viktor Gyökeres, who enjoyed a standout campaign at Sporting, remains a viable choice. His power, pressing, and finishing would be well-suited to the Premier League. Names such as Santiago Giménez and Serhou Guirassy are still in the mix. No move has yet been officially made, though. The club does not want bid wars and inflated prices. Instead, they are holding on for the perfect time—when the market melts or when a target becomes truly on the market. If patience produces the right signing, it might be the difference-maker in crunch time during the season.

🚨 Arsenal have made a 5-man shortlist for the striker position:

In my view, Arsenal’s calm strategy is smart. There’s no need to rush just because other clubs are making noise. A striker is important—but the right striker is even more important. Spending £80 million on the wrong profile could cause more harm than good.

Arsenal now have a solid foundation. They can wait patiently. The market could open up later in the window. A player can become available out of the blue. What is important is that Arteta’s team continues to develop—step by step. If they secure the right forward this summer, the title challenge could be on.
