Arsenal is interested and is also in talks to secure the service of Brazilian defender Alexsandro from French Ligue 1 team Lille. In order to make their overall team and squad stronger ahead of the 2025-26 season. The 25-year-old defender Alexsandro playing for Lille since the 2022 season has performed and grown over the past few seasons. This development of the player has helped identify the attention of the top clubs in Europe. After finishing the season strongly with Lille, Mikel Arteta Gunners are now in the race to sign him. The Gunners are ready to make their move in the transfer market. The Gunners have not yet submitted a formal bid for the player but are in talks with the player’s camp. This potential deal adds to the squad backup for the Gunners. As they will look to solve that by signing the player Alexsandro.

🚨 | Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with central defender Alexsandro over a move to the Emirates this summer.

Alexsandro Ribeiro commonly known as just Alexsandro from Brazil came through the ranks of Portuguese third division. In 2019 he was playing third division football rapidly rising through the ranks. The player made his professional league debut in 2022 with Lille. Since he did not look back for himself. The centre back with his primary foot as left has impressed the scouts with his gameplay from the back of play. With a massive height of 6 feet tall offering a good both physical and aerial presence for his team. As a primary position of centre back he has also played as a left back for the team. This can be an important benefit for the Gunners as they require multiple players in their team. This will help him to switch positions in times of need with players like Gabriel or Calafiori when they are not available sometimes.

In this season of 2024-25, he has played a total of 31 matches for his side. Helping the team secure a fourth place finish in the League table with a Champions League qualification next season. His brilliant performance with the club his skills tackling, game sense and his passing ability has helped him get a passing accuracy of 89%. An extra added benefit for Arteta’s side. He has also made his debut for his national team recently under the new coach Carlo Ancelotti against Panama. LOSC Lille is also open to selling Alexsandro this summer. Reports indicate that the player would be easily secured by the Gunners if they met a value of €30-35 million. As the player would be also ready to take on a new challenge after three seasons with the French side. As for Arsenal seems a fair deal.

Despite the potential deal to secure the Brazilian, Arsenal is in immediate need of a new striker for their squad. Most of the signings in the recent have been done in midfield and defense. A lack for a new centre forward is the main current issue of focus for the Gunners ahead of the new season.

This signing is a part of Arteta’s bigger picture in terms of adding proper backups for the important position for the Arsenal trophy-winning chances for the next season. As the Gunners will look to fight for the big titles again next season. So the need for a big rising signing who can perform is important for the team in the future times. But the Gunners have to act quickly on this deal as teams like AC Milan and Napoli have also shown their interest in the player.
