Arsenal are set to Negotiate sell-on clause for in-demand youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji. Arsenal are set to plan and insert a sell-on clause of significant proportions in any potential deal for academy striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji. Butler-Oyedeji, 20, is attracting some serious interest from various clubs. Moreover, the Gunners are happy for the highly-rated forward to leave this summer. They don’t want to lose complete ownership of an individual they forge could develop into a top player.

The London-born striker has been with Arsenal since he was 8 years old and has worked all the way through the youth ranks to become one of the most sought-after academy players Arsenal has produced. A versatile attacker who can play at any position on the front line, Butler-Oyedeji has shown great technical ability, intelligent movement as well as an eye for a goal.

📲 Nathan Butler-Oyedeji’s farewell message to Arsenal on Instagram.

🗣️ “Arsenal will always hold a special place in my heart as being a boyhood Arsenal fan it was a dream come true to make my debut for the club.”

Wishing you the very best on your next journey, NBO! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/XJzLPVHfjG

Although Butler-Oyedeji made his first team debut in a short cameo appearance for the Gunners in a Europa League game against Zurich in 2022. There haven’t been too many opportunities under Mikel Arteta. Although he gained valuable experience with short loan spells at Accrington Stanley and Cheltenham Town last season, albeit both spells fall short and hampered with injuries.

There are several Championship and League One clubs following Butler-Oyedeji’s situation closely. Bristol City, Millwall and Peterborough are there to be among the clubs looking at him. While there are European clubs reportedly that are also tracking him as a player they could potentially develop into a saleable entity.

Arsenal faces a tricky position. They keep an excellent prospect with potential who may not break into their well-stocked attack anytime soon or sell while they can capitalize on his high-market value. It appears that it’s a bit of both: sanctioning a permanent transfer, but ensuring that Arsenal will still profit at a later date with a substantial sell-on clause up to 25-30%.

Arsenal are set and also very aware of the situation with academy products in the past like Serge Gnabry and Donyell Malen. They were first sold and then went on to have quite pronounced careers elsewhere. An increasing selling-on clause would guard Arsenal’s investment if Butler-Oyedeji came good at his next club.

He’s been at the club since he was 8-years-old. It’s been 14 years in the making.

He deserves this more than anyone.

This approach has served Arsenal well recently. The club inserted a 40% sell-on clause when selling Folarin Balogun to Monaco last summer. While Omari Hutchinson’s Chelsea move included a significant future sell-on percentage.

Overall, Butler-Oyedeji needs to be playing regularly in the first team to continue his development. However, that is not going to happen at Arsenal anytime soon. A permanent transfer supplemented with buy-back or matching rights clauses for Arsenal would seem like the perfect solution. This will allow the player a chance to settle into a club and First-Team mentality. Whilst, it will also financially allow Arsenal to keep their stake in him.

In the next few weeks, the fate of Butler-Oyedeji will be on the deciding end. Arsenal will aim to negotiate an outcome that is best for all parties who are involving themselves. Arsenal would like to retain an interest in one of its most talented young homegrown talents. But they allow the ability for Butler-Oyedeji to further his career elsewhere.

For Butler-Oyedeji, this is a defining summer. A successful move could see him replicate other academy leavers from Arsenal. Those who have gone on to have successful careers after leaving north London. Arsenal gets another opportunity to show how clever they can be at developing and profiting from the club’s famous academy products.
