Ampem Darkoa Ladies smashed Northern Ladies 3-1 to maintain their spot on top of the table in the Northern Zone of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Mariam Oluwumi scored the first goal for the home side in the 4th minute, which was the only goal in the first half separating the two teams. Northern City Ladies started the second half strongly, dictating the pace and making serious incursions into Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ goal area, but they couldn’t capitalize on their chances. Priscilla Simtim Agyaman doubled the lead in the 71st minute for the home side. Memuna Bugre pulled one back for the visitors in the 81st minute, but that joy was short-lived as Linda Owusu Ansah scored in the 93rd minute to give the hosts a 3-1 victory.

In Kumasi, Ashtown Ladies and Fosu Royals played out a thrilling 1-1 draw. Fosu Royals Ladies took an early lead through a fine strike, but Ashtown Ladies equalized in the last minute of the game. The match featured dramatic, end-to-end action as both sides pushed for the win. The draw means Ashtown Ladies are still embroiled in the relegation dogfight, while Fosu Royal Ladies maintain their position in the top half of the table.

Elsewhere Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies put up a brave fight but ultimately drew goalless with Tamale Super Ladies. The visitors looked to break the deadlock with a fine free-kick, but Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies held firm. However, Tamale Super Ladies’ second-half efforts didn’t pay off as Kumasi Sports Academy piled pressure on the visitors. The match was an entertaining one, with both teams creating chances. Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies are disappointed as they remain bottom of the table, but they’ll look to bounce back in their next match. Tamale Super Ladies, on the other hand, will be pleased with a point on the road.
