Alexander Zverev continued to ride the wave after lifting his maiden US Open title in New York during Germany’s Davis Cup second-round qualifier against Croatia. On Saturday afternoon in Halle, the World No. 2 star carried his sublime form to his homeland and ousted Matej Dodig 6-4, 7-6(3) to hand Germany a 1-0 lead.
During his closely fought win, Zverev’s girlfriend Sophia Thomalla was in the stands to witness the action firsthand. She posted an image of Zverev in position to serve from the stands on her Instagram story.
